The following problems are to be handed in:

1) An object 1 cm high is located 70 cm in front of a converging lens that has a focal length of 50 cm.  Determine the location of the resulting image by constructing a careful ray diagram (using a ruler).  The diagram should include 3 principle rays (rays that you can draw accurately using what you know about lenses).  Determine whether the image is upright or inverted, real or virtual.  Try to determine the image size.  Check your conclusions by calculations with the standard formulas.

2) Repeat for a 1cm high object located 40 cm in front of a diverging lens with a focal length of -50 cm.
