Resonance:

• oscillating system has ìnaturalî frequency f0 when

it is oscillating on itís own

• push on oscillating system at steady rate -

driving frequency fD

• observe amplitude of oscillation as you vary fD:

amplitude peaks at resonance frequency f0

• with of resonance Df measures how far you can be off

in frequency before amplitude drops to 1/2 of peak
