how are the pulses (kicks) created?
for bowed string: sticky rosin on bow pulls string aside until
restoring force loosens string from bow and string snaps back
for voice and wind instruments: stream of air through narrow
gap (vocal cords, reeds, lips of brass player) makes short puffs
(Bernoulli effect periodically close gap).
demo: Bernoulli effect (counter- intuitive!)
demo: puffs from horn mouthpiece
demo: guitar pickup senses string velocity -> observe kicks
